Recently I was told that SOAR was on the shelves at my local Barnes & Noble store. Since this is the ultimate goal for many authors, I had to go check for myself. Lo and behold there was SOAR perched on the shelf with other authors I admire tremendously. I can’t even describe the emotions I was feeling as I took in the atmosphere and realized the significance of this accomplishment. It was surreal.
I ended up practically jumping a random woman asking her if she would take my picture with the book. At first she looked at me a little skeptically, but once I explained that I was actually the author she was happy to obliged my request. Then we had a nice chat about the writing process and how I got here. She was so kind to indulge me and listen to me but at this point I honestly can’t even remember what I said to her because I was so excited!
After that, the store manager saw our interaction and came over to make sure everything was alright. Once I explained who I was she asked if I would sign all of the copies in the store. It was such an exciting moment in my writing journey. In fact, these past few months since SOAR was released in August have just been an amazing experience. I always dreamed that one day I would see my books on bookstore shelves and in libraries and now it is actually happening. It has been a long journey, but well worth the wait. I encourage everyone to keep pursuing their dreams and pushing through the obstacles, the reward is more than words can express.
